Christmas Party

12/13/2013

Dear All-Star Parents,

We are going to have our Christmas party on Thursday, December 19th instead of Friday this year.  This way if we miss a day due to bad weather, we can have a make up day for our party on Friday.  The party will begin around 1:00.  We are going to watch a movie, decorate cookies, make some reindeer treats, as well as open their Christmas gift from me.

You are welcome to come and join us in our party.  But you need to make sure that you have had a background check.  You also need to sign in with the office when you arrive and get a “visitor” sticker that you need to wear.  Thank you for your cooperation in making Columbia Elementary a safe environment for your kids to grow and learn.

Sincerely,

Mr. Clanton

This week in class we learned about the African American holiday tradition Kwanzaa.  Today in class we made a traditional food, Benne Cakes.  Many all-stars asked for the recipe so I have attached it below.

In need of newspapers

All-Star Parents,

We are in need of some newspaper for creating some paper mache pinata's for our musical.  If you can donate some to our classroom, we would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Holiday Christmas Gifts

Dear All-Star Parents,

The holiday season is here and I hope that you all have a wonderful time celebrating the season with friends and family.  In the past many parents have gotten me Christmas gifts during this season.  I truly have appreciated each and every gift.  However, I would like to request that if you choose to do something this year I would like to suggest getting something for the classroom instead.  Although I appreciate the recognition, I believe that getting something for the class instead of me will result in a life long investment for the students.  This is totally optional and I do not want anyone to feel obligated to participate.

But if you would like to give us something for Christmas, here are some ideas: educational games for the classroom, books, art supplies, footballs, soccer balls, basketballs, gift cards to purchase items for the class, and Amazon gift cards to put toward purchasing a tablet for the classroom.

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Mr. Clanton
