Blue Folder

9/1/2013

At the beginning of the school year, each student will receive a CES blue agenda folder.  Each week they will have a agenda that is passed out to them that will be kept in their folder.  This is  a great way to communicate between teacher and parent.  Students will write down any important information that you will need to know such as homework, special notes, or field trips.  This is also a great way for parents to jot down any information that they need pass along to Mr. Clanton such as if they need to ride the bus home, stay after for and after school activity, or any other important message.

Snacks

9/1/2013

Research has shown that healthier snacks for your child will help them to function better throughout the day.  I encourage that your child brings a healthy snack to school.  Also they can bring a water bottle that has a lid to school to use throughout the day.  At times, some students forget to bring a snack.  It would be greatly appreciated if you could donate some extra snacks for those who forgot or didn't bring one that day.

PTO

9/1/2013

The PTO would like to encourage more parent participation.  All parents are welcome at the monthly PTO meetings.  The meetings are scheduled to last one hour and are a good way to meet other parents.  The PTO pays for our art program, classroom extras, and many other things to help create an amazing learning environment here at CES

Spelling

9/1/2013

Each week all-stars will get 10 spelling words.  Each child has their own list of words (which is based on the 1,000 Dolch word list) from a pretest of the words that they got wrong.  During the week, you all-star is expected to practice their words during the school week in class during out "Daily 5" time as well as at home.  I have variety of hands on manipulatives, games, and activities to help your all-star learn to spell the identify word patterns.  Our spelling tests are given every Friday morning (unless noted differently) by some dedicated parent volunteers.  We would love to have you help out.  If we do not have enough helpers, we will not be able to meet your all-stars individual needs.
